Valentine's day is around the corner and here is the first in this series of posts, a song dedicated to her
Promises Don't Come Easy
I should have known all along,there was something wrong
I just never read between the lines
Then I woke up one day and found you on your way
Leaving nothing but my heart behind
What can I do to make it up to you
Promises don't come easy
But tell me if there's a way to bring you back home to stay
Well I'd promise anything to you
I've been walkin' around with my head hanging down
Wondrin' what I'm gonna do
'Cause when you walked out that door,I knew I needed you more
Than to take a chance on losing you
What can I do to make it up to you
Promises don't come easy
You know I've made up my mind to make it work this time
That's the promise that I give to you
You never thought I loved you
I guess you never thought I cared
May be I was just too proud to say it out loud
Now I know, to let my feelings go (so tell me)
What can I do to make it up to you
Promises don't come easy
You know I've made up my mind to make it work this time
That's the promise I can give to you
What can I do to make it up to you
-Caron Nightingale (Promises don't come easy)

Mein Kampf
Sometime back, I saw the movie Schindler's List. I must admit that I've never been good at History, regardless of what the marksheet says. But the gory details suggested in the movie made me compulsive to know more about that period.
This weekend I started reading 'Mein Kampf', the autobiography of Adolf Hitler. Mein Kampf means My Struggle. [If I were to write my autobiography, what would I call it?? My struggle with myself, may be. he he] This book was written before he became the Fuhrer of Germany. But the seeds of such dreadful ideology were sown long before; a striking similarity to a typical A.B movie where an oppressed kid wants to take revenge with the oppressors after growing up. The hatred cultivated for the system and the bourgeois class and his fanatic nature is absolutely stunning.
I was moved by his analysis of the fate of the workers. He also mentions about the Germans staying in Austria and about their longing for the fatherland [yeah they call it the fatherland, not the motherland]; and a thought just passed by in my mind, reflecting our state of mind. But I don't agree with the principles that he developed while growing up in such a misery. That could have been put to a much more constructive effort, although this concept of 'constructive effort' itself is quite fuzzy and its definition might vary as per circumstances.
But there are still a few points that can be learnt. The oratory skills, that could inspire so many to strive for a common cause, are certainly admirable and are very essential in the day-to-day business as well. Passion is definitely needed to accomplish your goals in life, without which one must settle himself for a mediocre way of living.
The hatred and the gory ideology suggested here is difficult for me to digest. Perhaps I won't read this book any farther, Never..
a final thought.. don't try to pull others down; instead, push yourselves up.

my astrology prediction for the day !
"Your sweetheart's only trying to be helpful, but your gut reaction is to want to shout, 'You're not the boss of me!' Perhaps it's best to take a little solo time, especially if you're working on a project."
I really can't make out what the predictions are all about ! Is this really for me ?? Is it that difficult to make out that I have been having a solo time for a really loooooong time now..and you want me to take a "little" solo time...no stupid..I am not working on any project ! Yaaah..maybe its just that my sweetheart is REALLY trying to be helpful.. :-P
Have a good day !!

shwish..shwoop..shwish..I went skiing !!

Squaw Valley, home to the 1960 winter Olympics, is set as a beatiful mountain range near lake tahoe. Standing 9200 ft. tall, with a gigantic sheet of snow, neatly done by snowcats is a breathtaking sight !! The sight of hundreds of people with ski / snowbords looking like tiny ants speeding through the treacherous slopes is all you get to see at the Squawlywood (or that's how our tour guide called it).
The moment I took the cable car about 4000 ft. high to the peak where I was to ski, I decided that our next Bloomington Kangarooz trip should be at a ski resort. I took the beginner's package where I got to rent the ski equipments and also a group lesson on skiing. By the end of the lesson, I already had 3 specatcular falls, thirsty enough to eat the snow and also managed to ski quite well :D. Kids lesser than 10 yrs old, shot past me like shooting stars and before I opened my mouth to say "woow", I was on the ground saying "awww..somebody help me, I am down". That was embarrassing. Infact, the most intimidating part of skiing is getting up once you are down..trust me..with that long boots and skies, it can turn out to be impossible to get up on your own. Seeing snow after such a long time and that too mountains and mountains of snow, I didnt want to leave that place. I abso-freaking-lutely heart skiing !!
Shwish..shwoop..shwish..I went skiing !!!!!

Transitions
quoted from our newsletter -
Life is full of transitions. As much as we might want life, or work, or watever, to stay as it is, transition and change will occur. Transitions. Scary? Unwelcome? Part of life? Invigorating? Exciting? Yes. We should find a way to successfully navigate through those changes and be poised for invigorating, exciting growth ahead.

Don't miss tomorrow's game !
Indianapolis Colts v/s Pittsburg Steelers..
With the defending champions, New England Patriots, down today against Broncos, the real superbowl comes down to tomorrow's game. Colts and Steelers are the one of the best teams in the NFL and both capable of winning the superbowl. But these are the division playoffs and whoever loses tomorrow will be out of the championship. Colts have had a great season this year with more than 11 consecutive wins and they'll also have the home advantage playing at the RCA dome.
m' sure things will be crazy out there in Bloomington n' Indy.. So make sure you watch the game at Yogi's n' support Colts ;)
Go Colts !!!

~~...what better...~~
what better day to start the blog
~~~ the friday before a long weekend
what better day to start pouring my thoughts
~~~ a cool sat morn, with a hint of snow about to fall, fain sun-shine coming through the clouds
what better way to start my day
~~~ a hot steamy cup of tea, with my fav cookies (parle-G), n no hang-over from last night ... songs 'bheegi bheegi' and 'yarada - buddha bar' playing in the background
what better way to login to my blog
~~~ forgot password, what better forgot username as well
so yaa ... what could have been better ...
It was a good start to the weeekend .. a dance-sport social with ballroom dancing on fri night; something new, something different, a lot of fun
danced with at-least 20 different people, with a lot of smiles and masti, and made sure to make others smile with my dancing antics !
.. it was latin flavor if I may call it, with me obviously not remembering the name of any dance forms .. but by the end of the evening, i could shake to the music and find some ryhthm; surely much practice is needed which I may(not) do :)
ok .. the songs have stopped playin .. means i stop writing as well .. with a quote of course ..
'a day is not well spent, if there is no laughter' .. anon.
Have a nice day !

My roommate hunt !!
Peopppple...Yeah...Its out..Its official !! The ads are out and am on my next hunt for roomie...I have no doubt I will make a great real estate agent one day ! What with half a dozen interviews every 3 months once and showing people around my wonderful apartment and explaining them about the rent, laundry facility, utilities, car park, swimming pool and obviously the house rules :-p. Ive already "Interviewed" two poor souls as my prospective roomies for this quarter... Ofcourse it wasnt an interview as such..but more of marketing my apt :D and seeing if my roomie will be able to put up with my weird lifestyle...But trust me..this whole process of finding roommate is so annoying at times...and ppl coming to walnut creek are mostly thru consulting positions and dont stay for more than a couple of months...Ofcourse they should be feeling even worse..having to move every few months and deal with this whole processing of "moving"...
Spoke to my mom about my roomie hunt..she is a smart women..she thought I was hinting about my marriage and went on "why do you have to go thru this all the time..why dont you get married instead ?"..I wouldnt agree less..But lets not get into that now :D..There should be a whole separate post on that neways !! Infact I should post the exact conversation that went on..but later !!
I dont like this idea of staying alone..its tooo boring at times..its always good to have someone there to make noise and keep getting on ur nerves. Its better than sitting at home alone !! But one thing is for sure, no matter how much I search, I wont get another roomie like middha or THE Sheths..and I dont expect to find one too..I cant expect life to be all that easy, rite?..Maybe I should stop thinking I could have as much fun I had in Bloomington anywhere else. Yeah, I am talking about the very same chai-chat, night-out back-to-back movies (no matter how bad the movie was, guess we enjoyed them) , everday potluck evenings (with our special food), baddy, MCPL, Bryan Park and a million other things :D..Somehow the Kangarooz trips are helping me hold on to my life ...
neways guys..I have some serious thinking to do about my mom's suggestion !! Whatz ur take on that ?

looooooonnggg weekend.. aha or ohho??
Holidays just don't seem to get over.. Every other week seems to be a short one. n' now we've another long weekend. Depending on the work schedule n' the quailty of work, mood varies from aha to ohho!!
Things were quite different back in Bloomi days.. weekend or no weekend, things stayed the same. Chai sessions, nite-outs, potluck dinners.. Wish things were that simple!
Now we start off with a longing for a longg holiday, keep talking about it until the very last day and keep the hopes up for a good one. But once it sets in, start calling each other asking for plans n' hoping that the other person wud come up with some better things to do. :)
But it ain't that bad either. Gives ample time to catch up with frenz n' others ;) .. I just realised that I spend arnd 23-25 hrs a month on phone.. 8-| no kiddin.. Imagine a weekend without phone :)
well have a good one this time around n' ennnnjoyyy!

Timeless beauty.. a beginning!
Background song [Artist: Lucky Ali]
O Sanam.. Teri yaadon ki kasam.
mmmmmmmmmm...
It was a fog advisory here in the morning. Time n again, I've been enthralled by Virginia's virgin beauty n' Richmond was proving it once again. With this kinda weather, it cud compete any of the hill resorts out there. Driving to work was a wonderful feeling today. Whether it be the rusty rail tracks or the tall pine trees along the way, the misty fog had redefined their beauty; absolutely breathless..
a'ite, gotta get back to work now! :(
This is how this blog started ..
While writing this, it just struck me that we should have our group blog where we cud share any random thoughts/ideas/discussions; I mean anything!
