files upon files .. certificates .. papers .. statements .. bills .. marksheets ... transcripts .. the thought of standing in long Qs for hours ... all the prep
i reached the US embassy at 10;40 for my 11;30 appointment, 5mins in the doc check Q .. seeing all the tense faces around .. listening to 'Americaa. .. ' some wierd song .. n smiling about everything as always ... they even refused to take the Rs 2300 draft from me ('sir abb aapse paise thodi na lenge' :P)
then i entered the fortress of US embassy .. was carrying water in a transparent pepsi bottle .. the gaurd asked .. whats in it ? .. i put up my dumb look n said 'water' :) .. he said 'take a sip' .. i did .. n he 'observed' me for 5secs :P .. then let me in .. with the 'water' :))
fingerprints .. another 2mins ..
then i was wondering towards a long Q .. but a lady came .. n said .. 'stand in the 2nd Q' .. i didnt see a 2nd Q .. so just lazily went fwd .. she came in again with a smile .. n explained .. stand in 2nd Q means .. form it (hum wo hain, jo line mein nain lagte ,, hum jahan khade ho jayen .. line wahin se shuru.. :P)
the 1st free VO signalled me .. took my app .. asked me how many years .. where working .. wat salary .. 'u'll get ur PP in 72 hrs'
11am .. i was out of the embassy !!!

55 words to liven up the brotherhood and sisterho
Dears Brothers n Sisters of the Bloomington Kangarooz, our blog is dying an unceremonious death. With so many things happening in our lives I know it’s quite difficult to steal some time to post a blog. Some are getting hitched, some have moved on to better jobs, some have moved on to different continents, some are seriously applying for PhD and some are still totally confused (hope the person intended realizes :P). But I think it will be really cool to try something that has worked with many other blogs. I call upon this house to write out a 55 words story that will liven up Bloomington Kangarooz.
Vasanth's 55 words: True Love
Tears trickled down her cheeks.
She kissed me, “I love you and I’ll be waiting for you”. I boarded the Navy vessel.
As promised, she was waiting for me on my return, “I love you” she said pulling a young man from behind, “I want you to meet my husband.”
Tears trickled down my cheeks.
Hardik's 55 words: True Love?
They met for one last time. He would soon leave the country.
"What did you bring for me?", she asked. He gave her the small box he had been hiding.. a beautiful heart pendant!
He looked at her. "and you, what did you bring for me?". "Tears!", she said and turned away..
“Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail.” -- Jack Handy
Sumit's 55 words: true ? love ? ... ???
isnt love supposed to be true; isnt it supposed to be the honesty and sharing without barriers that defines love; arent the tears for love supposed to be understood without asking a Q or expecting an explanation; isnt love about not meeting someone first/last time, but about that wonderful special feeling you never experienced !!!!
P.S. why 55 words ? why love ? why true ? how does the group get alive and kickking by these 55 words ? why do both writers have tears in their stories ? why is it the girl who cries in both and goes away ? ... i want to watch Matrix 1,2,3 back-to-back :)
P.S. Post it under Bloomingtonkangarooz! If you don’t remember the password, ask vasanth or hardik (co-ordinator). If u are not a BloomingtonKangarooz member, you can still contribute ur story in the comments !! All are welcome !!!
