I am a Scorpio (or Leo or Virgo or whatever).. enough said!
I just don't get people who say so. Do you expect every person in the world to remember all the star-studded qualities of your star sign by heart? Gimme a break guys/gals! That's nuts..
and are you telling me that there is absolutely nothing that defines you explicitly? You have got no spirit, no soul, no spark, nothing special inside you that differentiates you from the other millions of human beings who happened to join this world in the same month as you?
You are the one, the ONLY one who lives with yourself every hour, every minute, and every second of this life.. the least you can do is to know yourself!
:)

A little bit of ..
A little bit of Monica in my life
A little bit of Erica by my side
A little bit of Rita's all I need
A little bit of Tina's what I see
A little bit of Sandra in the sun
A little bit of Mary all night long
A little bit of Jessica here I am
A little bit of you makes me your man
The question is: If I have li'l bit of everything, won't I also be left just with a little bit of everything at the end?
On the flip side, is that necessarily bad, given that getting every bit of one thing is anyways gonna be a long shot? ;)
What say?

Political Correctness
From Wikipedia:
Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct; both forms commonly abbreviated to PC) is a term applied to language, ideas, policies, or behavior seeking to conform to authority or orthodox thought. Usually this term is used in a sarcastic way to imply or ridicule the authority or thought as unquestionable or authoritative beyond discussion. Conversely, the term "politically incorrect" is used to refer to language or ideas that may cause offense or that are unconstrained by orthodoxy. The term itself and its usage are controversial. The term "political correctness" is used almost exclusively in a pejorative sense,[1][2] while "politically incorrect" is sometimes used as an implicitly positive self-description, as in the former talk show Politically Incorrect.
Even if the word may be controversial and its usage restricted almost exclusively to pejorative statements, I can't help but wonder how much our behavior needs to conform to the orthodox or "acceptable" thought; failing on which we are looked down upon, or termed anti-social.
On that note, I wonder if I was politically correct in stating so?

Smile..
Smile is a curve that can set a lot of things straight.
and it shouldn't be empty, when you're smiling on the outside while cursing inside. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be a smile in the physical sense of things. Imagine yourself communicating with someone over an IM or an email. Shouldn't you bring out the same pleasing persona of yourself, the one that says the other person is welcome, the one that says that you're happy to talk to them, the one that says you're trying to be constructive in your communication, and the one that shows you care? At the very least, you will set the positive tone of communication!
Go try it out.. It might set a lot of things straight!

Mayawati to unveil 40 statues, six of them of herself
NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati is all set to unveil 40 statues — including six of her own — on July 3, along with the Kanshi Ram Memorial and the Gautam Buddhasthals, which has cost the state exchequer dear.
According to the reply of an RTI filed in the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), statues of Mayawati and Kanshi Ram at various places in Lucknow and erected by LDA, cost Rs 6.68 crore. And, the 60 marble elephants at the Ambedkar memorial cost Rs 52 crore, according to the reply. If the figures in the Uttar Pradesh budget are anything to go by, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
The Uttar Pradesh culture department's budget for 2009-10 shows that in 2008-09, the department had allocated more than Rs 194 crore for building statues of "great leaders" — the entire amount was spent.
We sure do know how to spend our money !

Why does the world ask for favorites?
No seriously.. how can you pick one music over another or say, one flower over another? Doesn't a jasmine have its own virtues, and a rose its own beauty? To make things complicated, how'd you choose a yellow rose over a white one? and that too, without touching or smelling them? you gotta be kidding..!
Seriously dude, go smell the roses!

If you want something and really desire it from the bottom of your heart, the whole universe will align itself to help you get it.
BS!
No it doesn't!
All it does is to motivate yourself to do your best, to leave no stone unturned and at the very best, allow you to align a few elements of this whole universe in your favor. So it'll ensure that the part of the outcome that is determined by your efforts are done in the best manner possible.
But what about the other X%, on which you neither got any control nor any influence? the one which doesn't alter, no matter what you do or what you desire!
all you can do then is hope..

The Pursuit of Happyness..
Christopher Gardner: Hey. Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right?
Christopher: All right.
Christopher Gardner: You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period.
---
Christopher Gardner: Probably means there's a good chance. Possibly means we might or we might not.
---
Christopher Gardner: It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?
---
Christopher: Hey dad, you wanna hear something funny? There was a man who was drowning, and a boat came, and the man on the boat said "Do you need help?" and the man said "God will save me". Then another boat came and he tried to help him, but he said "God will save me", then he drowned and went to Heaven. Then the man told God, "God, why didn't you save me?" and God said "I sent you two boats, you dummy!"

Why NOT?
Often we ask ourselves a lot of Whys!
Why do this? Why do that? Why plunge into the river? Why take up a new responsibility? Why fall in love? Why learn to fly? Why dream? Why wait for a call? Why give someone a call? Why, WHy, WHY??
Have we considered tweaking the question just a li'l tiny bit, and ask WHY NOT?
:)

UCD goes Facebooking !!!
How cool is it when an University openly embraces Facebook ? Yes ! UCD thinks it should post semester exam results on Facebook and now we have UCD Registry Facebook ! THe idea is that students prefer facebook to checking results on UCD website. If you join UCD Registry and become a fan on facebook, you will get to know if the results are out. Makes sense ? I had earlier pointed about some cool things from my Alma mater (Sona College) here. I just love when such things happen in University !! You know of any such cool stuff happening around ?
I think it all has to do with these..
UCD was shocked to hear a new report that said "STUDY FINDS LINK BETWEEN FACEBOOK USE, LOWER GRADES IN COLLEGE" and then what came as a relief was this "Facebook Use Not Found To Correlate Negatively With College Grades, New Study Shows" . Finally A Sigh of Relief !!!
